Long distance sea kayaking reached a new level as 2 of our members, Albert Gambina and Dorian Vassallo kayaked from Malta to Sicily unassisted (i.e.solo!!) in under 14 hours. Their crossing was not only the fastest but also the first solo attempt!
Dorian and Albert will be arriving on Wednesday 2nd September at 2300hrs by Ferry.
The Malta Canoe Federation would like to congratulate the kayaking duo and wish them luck in their future crossings! |

Wignacourt and Von Hompesch Go Head to Head Wignacourt - 5 Von Hompesch - 3 As the whistle blew, Wignacourt charged down the pool, as Benji Borg grabbed the ball and scored an amazing 5 seconds into the game leaving Von Hompesch to regain composure over this great attack.

Two kayakers – Albert Gambina and Dorian Vassallo last Saturday 30 May set a new time for paddling around Malta in a doubles or K2 kayak. The distance of 42 nautical miles was accomplished in 9 hours and 36 minutes on a north-about route paddled in their VKV Anita K2 kayak. The round Malta paddle was preparation for crossing the Malta Channel, an event planned for the 19 June. This Pozzallo to Valletta challenge together with the circumnavigation of the Maltese archipelago held last April, are part of the Kayak for Cancer events, whose aim is to raise funds for the Malta Cancer Foundation.
The Gambina/Vassallo team would like to thank their sponsors VKV and Sullivan Maritime Ltd as well as the VTS section of the Malta Maritime Authority for their assistance. |
